CPF (City Parks Foundation) is the only nonprofit organization to create programs in parks throughout all five boroughs of New York City. We enrich and connect New Yorkers through free and accessible arts, sports, education and community-building initiatives.

We connect teachers, students and families through hands-on classroom, after school and teacher-training programs in parks, schools and Recreation Centers across New York City. Annually, our programs reach 7,500 students and community members and 600 teachers.

SUMMERSTAGE KIDS

SWEDISH COTTAGE MARIONETTE THEATRE

Bringing enjoyment to legions of people through its contemporary and innovative marionette productions based on children’s classics.

PUPPETMOBILE

One of the oldest marionette companies in the country presents free performances and puppet-making workshops in neighborhood parks, recreation centers and schools.

CPF provides FREE sports instruction to over 13,000 kids and 1,000 seniors annually, at over 60 parks citywide. Whether its tennis, golf, track & field or fitness – the name of the game here is FUN for all ability levels!

TENNIS

These lessons make the sport freely available to those who want to learn the game in a fun, relaxed environment.

GOLF

Fun and easy for kids ages 6 to 17, these free lessons make the sport accessible to kids of all skill levels.

JUNIOR GOLF CENTER – BROOKLYN

This state-of-the-art par 3 facility offers free golf instruction to New York City children between the ages of 7-17.

TRACK & FIELD

Learn the basics of the sport, from hurdles and relay races to long jump, shot put and javelin throw.

KIDS FITNESS

These fun-filled fitness programs help keep young kids active, and help to develop positive, life-long attitudes toward healthy exercise and nutrition.

SENIORS FITNESS

Join New Yorkers ages 60 and over, for free tennis lessons, yoga instruction, and fitness walking in parks across the country.

Free Guided Tours given by Friends of the Kennedy Center Tour Guides

A tour of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, situated on the banks of the Potomac River, is a highlight of any visit to Washington, D.C. As the nation’s performing arts center and a living memorial to President John F. Kennedy, the Kennedy Center welcomes three million visitors annually. The tour highlights the historic events that led up to the establishment of a national cultural center, as well as an interactive exhibit on the life and presidency of John F. Kennedy. Tours of the Kennedy Center are offered daily, free of charge, and given by the Friends of the Kennedy Center volunteers.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is an art museum located in the heart of New York City. Its permanent collection contains more than two million works, divided among nineteen curatorial departments. The MET currently represents in their permanent collection are works of art from classical antiquity and Ancient Egypt, paintings and sculptures from nearly all the European masters, and an extensive collection of American and modern art. The Met also maintains extensive holdings of AfricanAsianOceanicByzantine, and Islamic art. The museum is also home to encyclopedic collections of musical instruments, costumes and accessories, and antique weapons and armor from around the world. Several notable interiors, ranging from 1st-century Rome through modern American design, are permanently installed in the Met’s galleries.

The Met currently has a global scope of its collections and extends across the world through a variety of initiatives and programs,  including exhibitions, excavations, fellowships, professional exchanges, conservation projects, and traveling works of art.

The Museum offers a variety of programs designed for K–12 educators that explore objects in the Museum’s collections, interdisciplinary curriculum integration, and methods for teaching with objects. Students and teachers may explore the collection with a Museum staff member, who leads discussions and exercises designed to encourage critical thinking in response to original works of art. Tours are appropriate for the group’s grade, level of ability, and subject of interest. Guided tours are offered and recommended for students who are at or above first-grade level and last about an hour.

THEATRE PROGRAMS

The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine produces theatre for kids, by kids, in the Dress-Up Theatre. There are opportunities for young audiences to see a show and for young actors to develop their skills. If you are between the ages of 8 and 17, you can audition for our company of actors and participate in a production!

Quick Links:

Each month features a new four-class weekly session devoted to a different story. On the final day of class, children will put on a show for friends and family! The class was created for our youngest actors, ages 4 to 5. Cost is $60/child for members, $75/child for non-members for four sessions, or $15 to try out one class.
