This unique and educational museum offers something you are not likely to find elsewhere: the history of Harness Racing. A popular event these days, harness racing has been hailed as the original Great American Pastime.
Housed in a beautifully restored gentleman’s stable, the Museum features exhibits of antique sulkies and sleighs, trophies, lifelike statuary, paintings, Currier & Ives prints, and more. And a realistic 3-D Harness Racing Simulator gets the blood flowing!
Follow the trail of Hambletonian, one of the most famous horses in harness racing. This lucky guy made his name not by racing — he was raced only once — but by siring over 1,300 foals. He was a champion, and Hambletonian blood dominated the breed of trotting and pacing horses and continues to do so today. The Hambletonian Stake, first raced in 1926 at the New York State Fair, has remained one of the sport’s premiere events and today is run at the Meadowlands for a purse exceeding one million dollars.
Individuals and families will enjoy this museum, as as well as the special events that take place here throughout the year. Visitors to the Museum will also want to visit neighboring Historic Track, the world’s oldest track, where horses and their trainers can be seen working out. Special races are held here, and those interested should call for details.

This gives the batter the same sense of timing achieved by watching the pitcher’s arm and release of the ball. It is the realistic nature of the machine (the only type of pitching machine of its kind) that allows you to practice the same fundamentals during practice as you use during a real game. Each cage offers fast pitch, medium pitch and slow pitch softball and baseball and can accommodate right handers and left handers. Two of the cages are wider and flatter to accommodate one-on-one coaching. The batting cages are ideal for individuals, little league teams, adult teams, parties or just plain fun! Batters may bring their own bats and helmets or use the ones provided by Chelsea Piers.

Generations of Railroaders can trace the roots of their heritage at The Altoona Railroad Museum. Known as the only interactive Railroaders Museum in America! Visitors will experience Pennsylvania Railroad History through sights and sounds that will bring your group or family back into an historic era.
For more than a century Altoona was one of the most important rail facilities in the United States. The city was home to the Altoona Pennsylvania Railroad’s repair and maintenance shops, its locomotive construction facility, and its test department. Altoona’s location at the foot of the Allegheny front and its proximity to the Horseshoe Curve route over the mountains made the city a key location in the Altoona Pennsylvania Railroad’s operations.
World Famous Horseshoe Curve
Take a most beautiful drive through the Allegheny Mountains. Experience the challenge the Pennsylvania Railroad workers overcame by completing rail tracks through this rough terrain.
Once you have arrived at the Horseshoe Curve, enjoy one of the World’s most incredible engineering feats. Ride the Funicular or walk 194 beautiful landscaped steps to the tracks for a front seat view of a train mans’ wonder. You will also find the Horseshoe Curve to be a relaxing and entertaining place to enjoy a picnic lunch.
While visiting, be sure to stop by the Visitors Center to view the descriptive displays that will help you better appreciate the work involved in building such a marvel. The Visitors Center also houses a gift shop of souvenirs for every railroad buff – from books to hats and sweatshirts.
The “Funicular” is an incline plane designed to take you from the visitors center at Horseshoe Curve Historic Landmark up to the train tracks of Horseshoe Curve. Or if you prefer a nature walk, you may take the beautifully scenic steps to the top.
